The idea was based on mixing bright colours
and forms inspired by nature and geometry, a bit like
some tribal tattoos. The design and placing of the sketches
are both designed in an a-symmetrical way, but creation
itself is one whole. [www.benoitdnb.com]

In order to preserve it's nature I deliberately continued
to use rubber as material due to its tremendous
expressive character for the entire shoe.
Rubber sequins out of a hole puncher have been used
with the intention to achieve a notion of snake skin
imitation.
The impression of snake skin transmits a feeling of
high value. [www.golo-schmeh.com]

The material and the "readymade-concept"
determind the design aproach.
I used leftover material, a bycicle-repairset and some
rubber ropes i found in an office-shop.
I have called the shoe ìwingbladeî.
The stripes that are radiated by the shoe tip shall
resemble feathers, they also convey dynamic.
The patches are scares, signs of hard labour and are
contrasted by the purple rubber laces.
The feathers are a symbol of freedom, the patches stand
for tuff, self-chosen work and purple is the
colour of silence. [www.newskooldisplay.com]

POG’s Rubbersocks are the functional addition
to the classical Corean Rubber Shoe. The Rubbersocks
transform the shoes into temporary rain boots. The Louis
XIV styling of the socks changes the pragmatic shoes
into fashionable items. [www.janwittrin.de]

Traditional Korean rubber shoes with healing silt
The combination of rubber shoes and healing silt works
well. It is like a never-ending foot massage so long
as you are walking.
The combination is open for a new design to combine
more of our life elements than our design elements

The Metrofarm elaboration over and design of these
shoes uses concrete. It shows the meeting of a fine
delicate shape and a ruff material. That the one shoe
is broken symbolizes the difficulties of this meeting
and fragility of society. [www.metrofarm.net] |

| Pit Ruge
After studying photography at the Lette institute in
Berlin, Pit stayed in the city for another 10 years.
Today Pit lives in the open countryside near Stuttgart.
In his open air studio he does fashion series, portraits,
and
pictures of animals. In October 2005 he presented work
at the Seoul design festival. During a fortnight in
Seoul he took 5000 pictures. His directness enables
him to transform encounters with strangers into pictures.

The door handle is the pictured expression of the link
between east and west, north and south.
The imprint of the original shoe has been reduced to
the signs in the centre.
Their meaning (Long life, Happiness, Ticket) points
out the metaphorical meaning of the handle. The handle
functions like a medium for all the positive aspects
of an exchange between different areas, cultures and
lifestyles - to enter new areas of understanding - you
swap the sides - and your perception opens a new room
for your inner world. [www.vogtweizenegger.de]

Design Festival 2006 |
 |
|
Mid-October the show moves on to the Seoul
Design Festival 2006. Following the DMY’s first successful
appearance on international ground last year, and the visit
of a fine selection of Korean designers at this year's DMY
Festival, we have accepted this year’s gracious invitation
of our Korean colleagues to present our very own selection
of designers at the Seoul design fair.
“The Koreans have recognised the visionary power of
design, which they view as a key to progress, opening the
way to higher life standards“(source:
red-dot). Last year, more than 17.000 visitors checked
out the German delegation.
