Nur noch fünf Mal schlafen und dann ist es soweit! Nachdem am heutigen Freitag, 11. Mai 2007 das offizielle Opening des Designmai Festivals über die Bühne geht, holen die Youngsters nochmal tief Luft und gehen in den Endspurt. Wo das Mutterschiff sich in diesem Jahr volle 10 Tage genehmigt, um die ‘Digitalability’ in allen Ecken der Stadt zu lokalisieren und einem stilhungrigen Publikum nahezubringen, darf in der Kunstfabrik noch in aller Ruhe analog geschraubt, gehämmert, gelocht, gebohrt und glattgezogen werden. Doch die Spannung steigt, denn wir wollen hoch hinaus: 5 Jahre DMY verlangen nach 5 Tagen komprimierter Design-Extravaganza!

Ab nächstem Mittwoch, 16. Mai 2007 präsentieren sich über 100 nationale und internationale junge Designtalente auf einer vergrößerten Ausstellungsfläche von 6.000qm, die erstmals SCHAURAUM und DESIGNLABOR zusammenführt. Neben gestalterischen Exponaten und künstlerischen Designobjekten teils junger, teils international bereits renommierter Designer darf auch dieses Jahr wieder nach Herzenslust getüftelt und experimentiert, diskutiert und laboriert werden. Designer und Besucher begegnen sich zum gestalterischen Mash-Up auf dem Abenteuerspielplatz der 5. Ausgabe der internationalen Designausstellung DMY.

Dem nicht genug, so wird nach positiver Resonanz in 2006 der DMY Shop zu einem vollwertigen Modul ausgebaut, in dem nach Herzenslust stilistisch hochwertig geshoppt werden darf. Die berühmt-berüchtigten DMY Couch-DJs unterstreichen auch in diesem Jahr wieder die geschäftige Marktplatzatmosphäre, visuell erstmals begleitet von einer gut selektierten Auswahl an VJs und Visual Artists.

Last not least bieten die Parties im KLUBLABOR als Ort der nächtlichen Ekstase wieder jede Menge Erholung von Design durch Design. Die Party als begehbare Installation, real erlebbar, multimedial, interaktiv.

Only five more days before it’s taking off! While Designmai Festival is having its official opening today Friday, 11th May 2007, the Youngsters are taking a deep breath before getting into final spurt. Even though this year the mother ship allows itself 10 full days to localize ‘Digitalability’ in every corner of the city and present it to a stylistically hungry public, at Kunstfabrik it’s still screwing, pounding, drilling, perforating and sleeking. But tension is rising as we’r aiming high: 5 years of DMY requires 5 days packed of design extravaganza!

From next week’s Wednesday, 16th May 2007, more than 100 national and international young design talents present themselves spreaded over an enlarged exhibition surface of 6.000 sqm that for the first time will merge the SCHAURAUM and the DESIGNLABOR. Next to creative work and artistic design objects by young but also internationally renowned designers, again there will be experimentation and tampering, discussion and laboratory work. Designers and visitors meet and greet in the midst of a creative mash-up, in the very heart of the adventurous playground of the 5th edition of the international design exhibition DMY.

Besides that, after last year’s remarkable succes the DMY Shop will emerge as an expanded, fully-fledged module dedicated to highbrow designer shopping. The illustrious DMY Couch-DJs will once again supplythe exhibition with its casual market-place atmosphere, for the first time visually supported by a fine selection of VJs and visual artists.

Last not least, the KLUBLABOR parties as sanctuary for the nightly ecstasy offer once again a break from design through design. The party as an immediately experienceable, interactive multimedia walk-in installation.
