Open Design Italia
Made to Measure

Open Design Italia is an international contest, exhibition and market exploring the field of self-production and allowing selected designers to exhibit and sell their objects directly and with no mediation. Since 2010, Open Design Italia has served to promote the collaboration between local designers, companies and makers, thus favouring the creation of networks and enhancing sustainability in the production process.

Joerg Suermann, CEO of DMY, will be among this year's jury members of Open Design Italia. The jury will grant three awards and special mentions among all exhibited projects.

The third edition of Open Design Italia 2012 will be held in Venice in the area occupied by Magazzini Ligabue. The event is scheduled on November 23-25 as part of the 2012 edition of Venezia2019-European Culture Forum. Over 70 projects were selected for the exhibition, out of 208 applications received over the last months from Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Slovenia, Israel, Brazil, Argentina, Egypt and Hong Kong. Curators of the initiative are Elena Santi, architect and founder of Open Design Italia, Laura Succini, architect, and Alan D’Incà.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an interesting programme of lectures and roundtables. Speakers will include Paolo Ulian (designer), Stefano Micelli (economist and author of “Futuro Artigiano” – Future Making), David Dolcini (designer and founder of Designeyed.com) and Marco Zito (architect and associate professor in Industrial design).
